John V. da Graca (Citrus Center, agronomy/resources sciences) was awarded $5,000 by the Texas Ornamental Enhancement Endowment for “Providing Virus-Free Citrus Budwood for the Ornamental Industry of Texas.”
Mary L. Gonzalez (Special Programs) and Janis VanBuren (human sciences) were awarded $89,528 by the U.S. Department of Education for “The Center for Young Children & Parent Training at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.”
Lynne Goeglein-Porter (P-16 Educational Improvement Consortia, Education) signed an intrasystem cooperation contract with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for $70,782 for “P-16 Educational Improvement Consortium High School Project (Rider 67).”
Allen Rasmussen (agriculture & human sciences) signed a subaward agreement for $100,000 with the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station for “Understanding Disturbances Associated with South Texas Rangeland Ecosystems.”
William Kuvlesky (Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute) was awarded $10,000 by The George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation for “South Texas Raptor Project.”
Scott Henke (animal & wildlife sciences) has signed a cooperation agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Animal Plant Health Inspection Service/Wildlife Services for “Pseudorabies in Feral Hogs.”
Dalton Bigbee (academic affairs support services) and Robert J. Diersing (business administration) were in attendance at the Annual Southwest Council of Business Schools and Programs Meeting at Texas Lutheran University Nov. 3-4. In addition, Bigbee will be attending the Texas Association of State Systems for Computing and Communications Meeting Dec. 12-13, while Diersing will be attending the Southern Business Deans Meeting Nov. 5-8 in Atlanta.
Mike Desiderio (curriculum & instruction) will be attending the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board consultants meeting and participating in the Math & Science Higher Education Conference Nov. 16-19.
Indra K. Reddy (pharmacy) will be attending Texas Pharmacy Congress Meeting Nov. 15-16 in Austin.
Ronald Hy (arts & sciences) attended a grant conference for Hispanic Serving Institutions in Laredo Nov. 1-3.
Mike Daniel (education) attended an Activities Integrating Mathematics & Science (AIMS) advisory board meeting Oct. 19 in Corpus Christi and the 2005 Fall Teacher Education Conference-Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education Oct. 24-25 in Irving. In addition, Daniel will be attending the Texas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (TAPHERD) Convention Nov. 30-Dec. 2.
The Journal of South Texas, Volume 18, Number 2, was released for fall 2005 by the South Texas Historical Association. Leslie Gene Hunter (history) served as editor and Cecilia Hunter (South Texas Archives) was design and layout editor. The current board of directors of the organization include Larry Knight (history) and Homero Vera (Jernigan Library). |
