Former A&M-Kingsville employee Stephen Tribble received the Army Commendation Medal while serving as a captain in the Army Reserve at Camp Cooke in Taji, Iraq. Tribble was associate director of recreational sports for the university.

The Army Commendation Medal is awarded to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States, other than general officers, who while serving in any capacity with the Army, distinguishes himself by heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service.

Tribble serves with the 416th ENCOM, Facility Engineer Group, Facility Engineer Center-Northwest, Facility Engineer Team #9.
