Just a reminder, the second and final session of diabetes screening will take place from 7 to 9 a.m. Monday near the Tejas Room in the Student Union Building. Those wishing to take advantage of the screening are asked to fast before the test.

Kappa Delta Chi is sponsoring the screening for administration, faculty, staff and students.


As many of you know it is hurricane season in the Coastal Bend. Fortunately there are no storms in the Gulf aiming for Texas at the moment. Nonetheless, as a university community we should continue to prepare ourselves should a hurricane or tropical storm reach us sometime this season.

The Crisis Management Team would like every member of the Javelina family to review the hurricane procedures for the university. These may be viewed online here.

Each season these procedures are posted on the front page of the website for the duration of the season.

The Career Services Center will host a videoconference entitled Job Search for International Students at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, in room 121 of Cousins Hall.
The program will include information about the job search, internships and work experience, visa issues and identifying employers hiring international students. This videoconference is being held in cooperation with International Admission and Student Services.


The Jernigan Library has scheduled workshops for the fall semester. All workshops are held in room 123 in the library. Call the reference desk at 361-593-3319 to reserve a space or for more information. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend on a first come, first serve basis.

A course in Basic Photo Editing will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4. It is an introduction to photo editing with Microsoft Photo Editor.

Two classes will be held Tuesday, Oct. 5. Introduction to Federal Government Resources will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. This course provides an introduction to search strategies for finding federal government information both electronic and print.
Resources in Education will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Students will learn to find and use educational resources including electronic databases and internet resources.
A second session of Introduction to Federal Government Resources will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6.

A course in Introduction to BIOSIS Previews will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Students will learn how to search BIOSIS Previews for resources in biology, plant and animal science, agriculture, ecology and bioengineering.
