A&M-Kingsville police car design earns best in show
The newly designed Texas A&M University-Kingsville police car placed first in the standard division in a Car and Patch Collectors Memorabilia Show held Saturday, July 10, in Live Oak. The vehicle then earned Best in Show. The University Police Department’s display included a collection of university police patches. The show’s spectators voted on the winners.

April Fundamentals of Engineering exams
yield second-highest pass rate in Texas

The Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering at Texas A&M University-Kingsville received good news last week. Their students had a 96.3 percent pass rate on the April 2004 Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examinations, the second-best pass rate of any engineering college in the state. read more»

McNair Scholars present research at Ninth Annual banquet
The Ninth Annual McNair Scholars banquet was held Tuesday, July 13, at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The program featured presentations from 15 scholars in fields such as psychology, criminology and chemical engineering. read more»

Upward Bound Math and Science students give presentations on Summer Program
Nearly fifty students spent the summer on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus as part of the Upward Bound Math and Science Center 2004. The students were selected from all over Texas and surrounding states based on their high academic performance in math and science. One student came from Puerto Rico. read more»

Each year, The Texas A&M System institutions seek out and recruit outstanding students who intend to become teachers. This year, Texas A&M-Kingsville chose 20 students to be recognized as Blue Chip Teacher Recruits. These students entered the university during the 2003-04 school year to fulfill their goal of becoming teachers. read more»

Continuing through Saturday, July 24 SNAPSHOTS FROM OUR PAST is an exhibit celebrating the centennial of the city of Kingsville. This exhibit features a series of black and white photos. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. For more information call 361-593-2810.

Saturday, July 24 ACCUPLACER TEST at 9 a.m. The Accuplacer is an alternative to the TASP test. It is a computerized test. In order to guarantee a seat, visit room 122 in Eckhardt Hall or call 361-593-3300 to pre-register. The fee is $40. For more information call 361-593-3308.

Saturday, July 24 through Sunday, July 25 VOLLEYBALL SETTER/HITTER CAMP from noon to 6 p.m. at the Steinke Physical Education Center. The cost is $100. This camp is limited to 36 high school students. For more information call 361-593-2411.

Friday and Saturday, July 25-26 HOGGIE DAYS ORIENTATION is held for new students to tour the campus and to meet faculty, staff and new classmates. For more information call 361-593-2760.

Monday, July 26 through Thursday, July 29 VOLLEYBALL SKILLS CAMP for athletes entering fifth through 12th grade at the Steinke Physical Education Center. The cost is $110 for a day camper and $225 for an overnight camper. For more information call 361-593-2411.

Thursday, July 29 through Saturday, July 31 VOLLEYBALL TEAM CAMP at the Steinke Physical Education Center. This camp is limited to 12 varsity teams and 10 players per team. The team cost is $250. Call for camp times. For more information call 361-593-2411.
