SACS News and Notes
During the first two weeks of February, the Collegiate Assessment of Academic Proficiency (CAAP - a test "designed by ACT to help institutions improve instructional programs by reporting on the academic progress of students") was administered on an experimental basis to a select group of approximately 190 upper division students across the Colleges of Agriculture and Human Resources, Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education and Engineering. The exams were sent to ACT last week for grading and results should be coming back soon. The immediate results of the test will be used in an ongoing assessment of the general education program at Texas A&M-Kingsville. If the University decides to adopt CAAP as an external assessment measure, it will be used regularly as a benchmark for quality improvement in our general education program. The current testing was under the direction of the General Education Committee, with the assistance of Life Services and Wellness. Thanks to all the students and instructors who gave up class time to contribute to this important work.
