KINGSVILLE (March 20, 2024) — If you are looking for something different on a Saturday afternoon, head over to Javelina Stadium on March 23 for the first Screamin’ Javelina Music Fest. The festival, sponsored by the office of Student Engagement and Campus Life, will be held from 2 to 10 p.m. on the grass practice field inside Javelina Stadium.

Those attending the festival will enter at the main ticket booth at the stadium. Festival goers are allowed to bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating. Umbrellas and sealed water bottles will be allowed and only clear bags may be brought to the festival site.

Prohibited items include pets, cups, coolers, open water bottles, outside food and drinks and bags that are not clear.

Food and beverages may be purchased at the stadium concession stand and food trucks, including Doughnies, The Hot Dog Cart, Kona Ice and Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee, will be on site.

Also for sale will be festival t-shirts and koozies, band merchandise and custom art by live artists.

Tickets may be purchased a number of ways. Wristbands will be issued upon purchase.

  • TAMUK students will be admitted free. They may pick up their wristband at the Javelina Student Engagement Center (JSEC) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday, March 21. Students must present their valid ID card and are allowed only one wristband per person.
  • General admission is $5. They may be purchased online through 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 22. Festival tickets will be purchased through Javelina Athletics ticketing, https://javelinaathletics.com/sports/2023/4/19/ticketing.aspx. Wristbands purchased online will be available at the Will Call window at the stadium.
  • Wristbands may be purchased at the door the day of the festival for $5, cash only.
  • TAMUK students will need their valid student ID to pick up wristbands at Will Call.
  • General admission wristbands purchased may be claimed at Will Call. Purchasers must bring the electronic receipt and an ID that matches the name on the order.

The tickets for the festival are woven cloth wristbands with a locking clasp. They must be put on correctly. Because they are a one-way locking mechanism, do not put on the wristband until you are about to enter the festival. Also, do not cut the tail of the wristband. Keep it on at all times.

How to put on the wristband correctly?

Step 1: Grab your wristband and place it on your right wrist. Do not tighten yet.

Step 2: Ask a friend to help you tighten the wristband into a comfortable position.

Step 3: Your friend will grip the tail while holding the cloth body. Slowly pull the cloth through the wristband’s lock to tighten, ensuring it is securely fastened.
