Thirty-two Students Compete for 2012 Homecoming King and Queen

KINGSVILLE (October 16, 2012) –Thirty-two students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville are vying to become 2012 Javelina Homecoming king and queen. The winners will reign as Javelina Homecoming royalty for one year.

Student voting begins on Monday, October 22 and ends Tuesday, October 23 with the top ten king and queen candidates announced at 8 p.m. at the Fall Carnival on University Boulevard. The king and queen will be announced Saturday, October 27 during half time at the Kleberg Bank Homecoming game.

Candidates for queen include:

  • Marissa Acosta, a junior kinesiology major from Alice
  • Caroline Adam, a junior fine arts major from San Antonio
  • Virginia Alaniz, a senior art major from Kingsville
  • Sarah Blanco, a senior education EC-6th Generalist major from Eagle Pass
  • Kassandra “Kassy” Canales, a junior psychology major from Santa Rosa
  • Priscilla Casias a junior agricultural science major from Lytle
  • Catherine “Katie” Desiderio, a senior theater and communication education major from Kingsville
  • Sara Hering, an agriculture science major from San Antonio
  • Leslie Lozano, a junior fashion interior merchandising major from Rio Hondo
  • Veronica Nieto, a senior geology major from Laredo
  • Bianca Nieves, a senior business and marketing major from Eagle Pass
  • Marina Rangel, a senior kinesiology major from Roma
  • Tezna Roy, a junior psychology major from Palacios
  • Yvonne Saldivar, a senior accounting major from Raymondville
  • Adah Sanchez, a senior chemical engineering major from Palmhurst
  • Mary Lee Santana, a senior agricultural science major from Laredo
  • Susie Suarez, a senior criminology major from Pharr
  • Stephanie Terry, a senior biology major from Benavides
  • Suzanne Villarreal, a senior criminology major from Port Isabel

  • Everardo “E.J.” Garcia, a freshman communications major from Crystal City
  • Guillermo “Adrian” Gonzalez, a senior agricultural science major from Edinburg
  • Jacob Gutierrez, a junior fashion and interior merchandising major from Weslaco
  • Jarvis McGee, a sophomore psychology major from Bryan
  • Michael Lee Mendez, a senior communications major from Corpus Christi
  • Cory Scarborough, a senior biology major from Bishop
