Community Members Sought for A&M-Kingsville Music Department Opera Performance

The Texas A&M University-Kingsville Department of Music is seeking auditions for their performance of Gian Carlo Menotti's one act opera Amahl and the Night Visitors. The performance is funded by a community engagement grant and the university seeks community members as part of the production.
This fully staged and costumed performance will include a chamber orchestra and is scheduled for 3 p.m. December 1 in Jones Auditorium on the A&M-Kingsville campus.
Lead role rehearsals will take place on Monday evenings in late October and all of November at 7:15 p.m. There will be evening rehearsals each night November 25-30.
Auditions are welcomed for the following parts:
- Amahl – boy soprano
- King Kaspar – tenor
- King Melchior – baritone
- King Balthazar – bass
- The Page – bass
- Understudy for the role of The Mother
Auditions will be held 5 - 8 p.m. Monday, September 10, in rm. 115 of the Bellamah Music Building on the A&M-Kingsville campus. Those interested in auditioning should prepare one classical art song or aria for the audition.
Information about participation in the adult and children's chorus will be announced in October.
