College for Kids offers summer classes for fourth through ninth graders

Are your children looking for something to do this summer -- something that will challenge and teach them, with a little fun on the side? The Center for Continuing Education at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will offer College for Kids during the month of July for students entering grades fourth through ninth.
It is a three-week program held July 9 through 26, with an orientation Thursday, July 5. Classes will be held Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The students and their parents have the opportunity to choose from a wide variety of courses, with three offered before lunch and three after lunch. Registration is currently underway through Friday, June 29.

Courses offered for students age nine to 12, going into fourth to sixth grade, include the following:

8 to 9:15 a.m. - Math Improvement
9:30 to 10:45 a.m. – Writing Improvement
11 to 11:50 a.m. – Conversational Spanish
1 to 1:50 p.m. – Reading Improvement
2 to 3:15 p.m. – Exploring Science
3:30 to 4:50 p.m. – Introduction to Technology
Elective
8 to 9:15 a.m. – Introduction to the Arts
9:30 to 10:45 a.m. – Introduction to American Sign Language
11 to 11:50 a.m. – Guitar I and Conversational Chinese
1 to 1:50 p.m. – Conversational Chinese and Drama
2 to 3:15 p.m. – Recreation and Team Building
3:30 to 4:50 p.m. – Creative Crafting
Courses offered for students age 13 to 15, going into seventh to ninth grade, include the following:
