KINGSVILLE (October 21, 2009) — Joanna Martin, doctoral student of the flute studio of the University of Texas at Austin, comes to perform and teach at Texas A&M University-Kingsville Wednesday, Oct. 28

Martin will offer a master class at 12:30 p.m. in which students from the A&M-Kingsville flute studio will perform. This event is open to anyone who would like to attend and will take place in the Frank C. Smith Recital Hall of the Bellamah Music Building.

A recital featuring Martin and Christina Wright, doctoral piano student of the University of Texas, takes place at 6:30 p.m. in the same location.

The public is invited to attend both the class and the recital, free of charge.

The recital and master class are the first in a series from students and faculty of the UT flute studio, funded through a Texas A&M-Kingsville Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) grant to bring the UT and A&M-Kingsville flute programs together for cooperative master classes and performances.

The QEP supports faculty members that strive to give undergraduates a mastery of general education and knowledge of their major field; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; civic awareness; and ethical responsibility.
