Homecoming Royalty Crowned

KINGSVILLE (October 27, 2009) — Students, faculty and staff at Texas A&M University-Kingsville spent last week celebrating Homecoming 2009. Royalty for the week were crowned at halftime of the Javelina football game Saturday, Oct. 24.
Oralia Ruby Tello, a sophomore social work major and psychology minor from Roma, was named Homecoming Queen. She represented the Ballet Folklorico.
Zachery Houston, a junior communication major, English minor from Kingsville, was named Homecoming King. He represented the International Student Organization.
In the queen competition, the first runner-up was Shanei Garcia, a senior communication sciences and disorders major, psychology minor from Edinburg representing Alpha Sigma Alpha. The second runner up was Erica Rodriguez, a senior criminology major and sociology minor from Kingsville representing PEP Talk.
In the king competition, the first runner-up was Joey Brysch, a senior computer science major, math minor from Falls City representing the Residence Hall Association. The second runner-up was Bryce Sauser, a senior mechanical engineering major from League City representing Lambda Chi Alpha.
The remaining queen finalists were:
Anastasia Offordile, a junior pre-med major, psychology minor from Houston representing the Catholic Student Organization; and
Emily Sczepanik, a junior biomedical science major, chemistry minor from Hobson representing the Residence Hall Association.
The remaining king finalists were:
Joe Castillo, a junior kinesiology major, business minor from Port Lavaca representing PEP Talk; and
Paul Cordes, a sophomore biology major, math minor from Harlingen representing the Catholic Student Organization.
Other queen candidates included:
Katrina Alejandro, a senior communication/journalism major, Spanish minor from Robstown representing the Javelina Press Club;
Anadelle Escamilla, a senior biology major, business minor from Pawnee representing the Pre-Pharmacy Association;
Amanda Estrada, a junior architectural engineering major, math minor from Corpus Christi representing Delta Phi Epsilon International Sorority;
Lourdes Huerta, a junior political science major, sociology minor from Corpus Christi representing the American Marketing Association;
Valene Vela, a junior music education major from Hebbronville representing Sigma Alpha Iota;
Wendy Willey, a junior kinesiology major, math minor from Port Aransas representing Women of Diversity; and
Maricruz Zapata, a junior history major, Spanish minor from Alice representing the South Texas Art Society.
Other king candidates included:
Emilio Alaniz, a senior psychology major, political science minor from Concepcion representing the South Texas Art Society of TAMUK;
Roque Johnson, a senior computer information systems major from Premont representing the American Marketing Association; and
Gavino “Vino” Villescas, a senior biology major, chemistry minor from Kingsville representing the Pre-Pharmacy Association.
