Free Choral Ensembles Concert at A&M-Kingsville Oct. 22
KINGSVILLE (October 14, 2009) — The Texas A&M University-Kingsville Choral Ensembles present “Music of Our Time,” a concert highlighting music that has been composed or arranged since the average college student has been alive.
The concert is free and open to the public. It will take place at 8 p.m. Thursday, October 22, in the Frank C. Smith Recital Hall of the Bellamah Music Building, on the A&M-Kingsville campus.
Included in the concert are gospel selections by Diane White and Rosephanye Powel; a spiritual arrangement of The Battle of Jericho by Moses Hogan; Set Me as a Seal by René Clausen; Dirait-on by Morten Lauridsen; Workin’ for the Dawn of Peace; and It Takes a Village by Joan Szymko. Those works will be performed by Concert Choir.
The jazz vocal ensemble Jav 7 will perform Take Five, arranged by Kirby Shaw, and Hey Nonny Nonny by Carl Nygard, Jr.
Chamber Singers will perform the Renaissance works The Silver Swan by Orlando Gibbons; My bonnie lass she smileth by Thomas Morley; and the 20th century Flower of Beauty by John Clements.
