KINGSVILLE (March 3, 2006) — Manuel Lujan began his new position of associate vice president for enrollment management at Texas A&M University-Kingsville as of Wednesday, March 1.
Prior to A&M-Kingsville, Lujan was with Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where he served as their associate vice president of enrollment management since 2003. Before that position, Lujan was dean of enrollment management at A&M-Corpus Christi from 1997-2003.
From 1986-1997, Lujan was with Angelo State University, where he served as dean of admissions and registrar.
“Texas A&M-Kingsville was the first institution in South Texas,” said Lujan, on what drew him to the campus. “It has very strong programs, great faculty, and is the only university offering a residential experience in South Texas.”
While at A&M-Corpus Christi, Lujan was on a number of university committees, including the Provost Council; the Academic Advising Council; the Scholarship Committee, of which he was chair; the Intercollegiate Athletic Council; and the Strategic Planning and Budgeting Council.
His professional committee work includes the Texas Association of Collegiate Registrars & Admissions Officers (TACRAO) Executive Committee; Enrollment Services Efficiency Committee (appointed by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and the Council of Public University Presidents and Chancellors); Sallie Mae Advisory Board for Texas; and the Texas State Leadership Consortium for Recruitment and Retention Advisory Board.
Lujan holds a B.A. in Spanish and French, and an M.Ed. in guidance and counseling, both from Angelo State University. He also has one year of doctoral studies in higher education administration from Texas Tech University.
