Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M-International enter intrasystem agreement for Communication Sciences and Disorders coursework, research

KINGSVILLE (June 21, 2006) — Dr. Rumaldo Z. Juárez, president of Texas A&M University-Kingsville, and Dr. Ray M. Keck III, president of Texas A&M International University, signed an intrasystem cooperative agreement Tuesday, June 20, regarding their communication sciences and disorders programs.
The two schools will work together to strengthen their programs to enhance the inclusion of both faculty and students in education and research. Some of the ways that will be done include Trans-Texas Videoconference Network (TTVN)/Internet master’s level courses taught by faculty from both campuses, pursuing collaborative research opportunities and cooperation in placing students into summer externships.
“Sometimes, regional universities don’t have all the resources they need,” said Juarez. “What we do have are strong relationships with fellow universities like Texas A&M International University and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. From those relationships come good things, like today’s agreement.”
Keck echoed that sentiment, welcoming the chance to work with A&M-Kingsville and furthering the mission of intrasystem cooperation valued so highly by the Texas A&M University System, state officials, the public and the universities themselves.
