Production of The Vagina Monologues March 6-8 to benefit Women's Center

KINGSVILLE (February 23, 2006) — Eve Ensler’s award-winning play The Vagina Monologues is the next production in the 2005-2006 theatre season at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
The Vagina Monologues, first performed off-Broadway by writer Ensler, dives into the mystery, humor, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement buried in women’s experiences.
The production, intended for mature audiences, runs Monday through Wednesday, March 6-8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Little Theatre. Admission is $5.
Prior to the Monday opening performance will be a silent pen art auction in the Theatre Arts Building from 6-7 p.m.
Sponsored by the Texas A&M-Kingsville Communications and Theatre Arts Department, the production and art auction are part of the V‑Day 2006 Campaign. V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. It is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations.
Through V-Day campaigns, local college students produce benefit performances of Eve Ensler’s production to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups. In 2005, over 2,500 V-Day benefit events were presented around the world.
