Texas A&M University-Kingsville Introduces Director of Development

Charlotte Michaelson
KINGSVILLE (September 8, 2003) --- Charlotte Michaelson is the director of development at Texas A&M University-Kingsville effective September 1. She will be a part of the Division of Institutional Advancement and will be responsible for the university’s annual fund campaign, special events planning and other development efforts.

Michaelson has extensive experience in marketing and public relations. She most recently served as membership and marketing director for the Ventura Family YMCA in Ventura, CA, and it is here that she found her interest in philanthropy, serving as an integral part of the annual fundraising campaign. Her duties also included organizing fundraising and community events, producing program publications, managing media relations and working extensively with volunteers and community leadership. She also was a member of the Ventura Rotary Club and the Ventura Chamber of Commerce.

During her time with the Ventura Family YMCA, she initiated grant writing efforts, substantially increasing support from foundations and government grants. Special event revenue for the organization increased by 30 percent each year during her tenure.
Her previous work experience also includes employment with Pacific Rim Financial Group in Seattle, serving as marketing director, and The Customer Relations Institute in San Diego, serving as marketing manager.

In addition to her professional credentials, Michaelson has been an active community volunteer as part of the Volunteers of America.

Michaelson holds a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from the University of Washington.
