Jeff Stone, Associate Director of Bands, Supervisor of Student Teachers
      Assistant Professor of Music
 

A native of San Marcos Texas, Mr. Stone received his BMEd and MEd from SouthWest Texas State University in 1969 and 1973.  After graduation he served for 7 years as the band director in East Bernard Texas.  While there the band grew from a membership of 55 to over 100.  They also received the first sweepstakes award in the history of the school, and were placed in the top 10 in the TMEA Class AA Honor Band competition.  In 1976 Mr. Stone took the position of Director of Bands at Calallen High School where he remained until 2000.  During his tenure at Calallen the band received numerous regional and state honors appearing at the Texas State marching contest 10 times.  His concert bands won awards from such prestigious contests as Lake Charles Contraband Days, The South Coast Music Festival, The Buccaneer Days, Six Flags Over Texas Music Festival and many others.

 Mr. Stone is an active member of Texas Music Educators Association where he serves as region XIV treasurer, Texas Bandmasters Association, and Texas Music Adjudicators Association.  He judges actively throughout the State of Texas and the Nation.  As a performer he is a member of the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra and a charter member of the Corpus Christi Wind Symphony.  He has previously played with the Victoria Symphony Orchestra, and the Sound of Swing Big Band. 

In his second year at TAMUK Mr. Stone serves as Assistant Director of Bands.  He coaches the “Color Guard of Gold”, is the Mariachi Javelina sponsor, student teacher supervisor and teaches various other classes.  His hobbies include photography, travel and motorcycle riding.
