Jason Marton, Assistant Director of Marketing, Public Relations

Jason Marton

Who I Am

I earned my B.S. in Radio-TV-Film from the University of Texas at Austin. My primary goal was to write for a living, and I’ve had the chance to do that, and pick up a few other skills in the process. Before the university, I was an announcer and the program director for KEDT-FM, the Corpus Christi NPR affiliate. In addition, I’ve had a variety of freelance writing jobs.

What I Do at Texas A&M-Kingsville

I tell the stories of the faculty, staff and students of Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Those stories can take the form of written pieces, as well as radio programs and videos produced with Communications Specialist Doug Smith. While the type of project and the medium may change from day to day, the goal is always the same—compelling images and words that illuminate the important work and amazing people that make up Texas A&M-Kingsville.

My Texas A&M-Kingsville Story

I had seen the campus once before I started working here initially in 2003. I was immediately impressed by its clean, Spanish Mission Revival-style architecture. I quickly realized how special the people inside those buildings were, and that there was research and scholarly activity taking place here truly worth promoting.
