Who I Am

I’m a South Texas native who grew up just blocks from the beautiful Corpus Christi Bay. I earned my Associate’s in Journalism from Del Mar College, bachelor’s degrees in communications and political science and a master’s degree in history and politics all from Texas A&M University-Kingsville. As an undergraduate I served as editor-in-chief of the university newspaper, The South Texan.

Ink was in my veins from the very start and I began my career at the Corpus Christi Caller-Times—the same newspaper where my grandfather served as a pressman and my husband served as a reporter. While there I covered education and served on the newspaper’s editorial board.

I returned to my alma mater in 2010 to work in Office of Marketing & Communications. Since then, I’ve served as a communications specialist, social media manager, director of communications and most recently, Director of Marketing & Communications.

My husband, Dr. Manuel Flores, is a professor of communications at A&M-Kingsville. We live in Kingsville with our dog Roscoe, a Schnoodle.

What I Do

As the Director of Marketing & Communications, I work with a talented team of professionals. Together, we facilitate external and internal communication and craft messaging. We take great pride in telling the wonderful stories of Javelina Nation! We produce everything from news releases to videos to content for web and social media. We work closely with the campus community and local and regional media. We also produce Javelina Today—the official university magazine.

My Texas A&M-Kingsville Story

As a proud Javelina alum, the university holds a special place in my heart. To me, Javelina Nation means access and opportunity. My years as a student here were great! I enjoyed my time with the student newspaper and made wonderful friends who remain very dear to me. It is my great pleasure to tell the stories that make this university—and its students, faculty and staff— so special.
