Leadership Programs
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES
The Department of Student Activities is the central office that coordinates the leadership development efforts at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The department offers several leadership development opportunities. Outlined below are several which are offered. Exposing and Cultivating Emerging Leaders (ExCEL)
ExCEL is a freshman program designed to develop Texas A&M-Kingsville’s leaders of tomorrow by enhancing integrity, giving inspiration, and providing a positive environment for the growth of leadership and social skills necessary to maximize one’s Javelina potential. ExCEL 2010-2011 will offer a variety of opportunities for freshmen students to enhance their knowledge of the campus community through a series of fun and fact filled sessions and university sponsored events.
Excellence in Educated Citizens (ExEC)
ExEC is an advanced leadership program at Texas A&M-Kingsville’s that strives to assist University students with enhancing their leadership abilities by providing interaction with community leaders, leadership workshops, and in-depth assessment, and enhancement opportunities for each student's leadership skills. By doing this, ExEC hopes to teach students how to become personal leaders who are active, engaged citizens committed to the broader communities welfare. ExEC is open to all students on campus, and is a requirement for all student organizations in order to enhance their leadership potential.
South Texas Leadership Conference (STLC)
STLC is a leadership conference hosted between Texas A&M-Kingsville, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M International University in Laredo. Each campus brings students from their school to improve their leadership skills and develop new ideas. There is no fee to attend.
Student Leadership and Recognition Awards
Leadership Awards Banquet
The Memorial Student Union and Student Activities staff recognize that student organizations and individual student leaders contribute a great deal to the Texas A&M University - Kingsville community. The Student Leadership Recognition Awards Program is our way of formally recognizing you and your organization for your contributions. The dinner which will be held on April 25, 2011, at 6:00 pm, and is designed to honor student organization members and leaders, excellence in programming, as well as outstanding recognized student organizations.

Balfour Ring Scholarship
Texas A&M-Kingsville, through Balfour College Jewelry Company, will provide one official class ring to a graduating senior who has excelled in leadership activities, positively impacted the campus and/or the community at-large and overcome educational and/or financial challenges while in school. One ring is offered for graduates in December, May and August.
