Faculty Positions

 

Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMU-K) invites applications for several new, full-time, tenure-track faculty positions.  TAMU-K, a state supported institution, is located in historic Kingsville, a friendly, safe city of 25,000 that is the home of the legendary King Ranch.  Corpus Christi and its beaches are just 40 miles to the northeast, and the border with Mexico is about 120 miles.    

 

A new state-of-the-art building to house the College of Pharmacy is under construction and is scheduled for occupation in March 2005.  An inaugural class of 65 Doctor of Pharmacy students will begin classes in the fall of 2005.  By the fourth year, the College will have 44 full-time faculty and 20 professional/clerical staff.

 

Pharmacy Administration – Assistant/Associate Professor – Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Social and Administrative Sciences in Pharmacy or a related area with a pharmacy emphasis.

 

Pharmaceutics – Assistant/Associate/Full Professor (two positions) – Applicants should have a Ph.D. in pharmaceutics or related science.  An undergraduate pharmacy background is desirable.

Medicinal Chemistry – Assistant/Associate Professor – Applicants should have a Ph.D. in medicinal/pharmaceutical chemistry or related science. 

 

The successful candidates will be expected to help develop, coordinate and teach one or more courses in an entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum.  A strong record of research accomplishments and the ability to establish/maintain an independent and productive research program is preferred.  Candidates should exhibit effective verbal and written communication skills.  Preference will be given to candidates who have a pharmacy background and experience in academic pharmacy.  Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

 

Pharmacy Practice – Assistant or Associate Professor (three positions) – Candidates sought for all areas of pharmacy practice, including Internal Medicine, Primary/Ambulatory Care, Critical Care, Nutrition, and Community Practice.  Responsibilities include didactic teaching, establishing a practice site, and precepting students on rotations.  Additional teaching responsibilities include instruction in the pharmacotherapy sequence and pharmaceutical care -case studies sequence.  Scholarly activities are highly encouraged.  Applicants must be eligible for Texas pharmacist’s license, have a Pharm.D. degree from an accredited Pharmacy program in the US, with residency training, or with extensive clinical experience.  Faculty rank and salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.
