Executive Board Positions

Fall 2015 Meeting Times

HSCA Executive Board Positions (Duties and Terms)

To run for HCSA office, one must be an active member.

 

President

Duties:  Oversees the HCSA, runs meetings, determines individual committee duties/charge, serves as an ex-officio member of all committees, creates ad hoc committees at will, represents the Association at events, and serves as Parliamentarian.

Term:  This is a twelve month term from the close of elections.  The student may only serve one term as HCSA President.

Open to:  The HCSA student holding the position of Vice President the previous fiscal year.

Vice President

Duties:  Runs meetings in President’s absence and serves as chair of the Election Committee.

Term:  Must be able to serve as Vice President (12 month term) and then as President in the next 12 month term. 

Open to:  Nominees must have in sophomore or junior year when served as Vice President and be able to serve as President the following year.

Secretary

Duties:  Records minutes for HCSA meetings, collects committee reports, and tracks member participation at events and meetings. 

Term:  This is a twelve month term. 

Open to:  Nominees holding sophomore, junior, or senior status in the year office is held.

Treasurer

Duties:  Keeps the financial records for the HCSA, collects funds, and initiates payments.  Tracks inventory of items used for fundraising. 

Term:  This is a twelve month term. 

Open to:  Nominees holding sophomore, junior, or senior status in the year of office.

Historian

Duties:  Keeps the historical records for the HCSA, takes pictures at events, collects information for the HC social media or media outlets, and works closely with the Advisor on the storage of memorabilia.

Term:  This is a twelve month term. 

Open to:  Nominees holding freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior status in the year of office.

College Representatives (One each from each College)

Dick & Mary Lewis Kleberg College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and

Human Sciences

            College of Arts and Sciences

            College of Business Administration

            College of Education and Human Performance

            Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering

Duties:  Serves as representatives to the Executive Board.

Term:  These are each a twelve month term.

Open to:  Nominees holding freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior status in the year of office.

Addition Qualifications: Must introduce themselves to the Dean of their college. They may only run for the college of their major. Students with multiple majors may only run for one college.

Representative At-Large

Two Underclassmen (0-59 Hours)

Two Upperclassmen (60 hours +) 

Duties:  Serves as representatives to the Executive Board; may serve as Chair of a Committee. 

Term:  These are each a twelve month terms.

Open to:  Nominees holding freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior status in the year of office.

 

Classification of Students (based on overall credits)

Freshmen:        0 to 29 semester hours of undergraduate credit

Sophomore:     30 to 59 semester hours of undergraduate credit

Junior:             60 to 89 semester hours of undergraduate credit

Senior:             90 + semester hours of undergraduate credit

 

Officer and Representative Meeting Attendance

Meeting attendance is required of all members of the Executive Board. Any absences must be approved by the President and/or the Advisor. Over three unexcused absences results in a vote for removal as described in Article VI, Section 6.
