The
Graduate Program Review Committee’s final recommendations for the four reviewed
programs are as follows:
Chemistry:
Continuation with
recommendation to: 1) Create a formal Graduate Committee; 2) Form a committee to quantify and report on the resources
and facilities available to the chemistry graduate program, particularly for
new faculty start-up funds and instructional facilities and equipment; 3)
Inform the faculty senate of the need for teaching load reductions and
increased graduate teaching assistantships.
Communication Sciences and Disorders: Continuation with recommendation to: 1) Hire additional
faculty; and 2) Secure graduate assistantships/scholarships.
English: Continuation with recommendation to: 1) Hire
two full-time, tenure-track assistant professors; 2) Generate funding to
support student assistantships and research; 3) Increase the number of faculty
publications; 4) Increase faculty attendance at conferences; and 5) Increase
recruitment of graduate students into the program, potentially by offering an
increased number of graduate assistantships.
Natural Gas Engineering:
Continuation with
recommendation to: 1) Increase enrollment by about 50% by offering more
financial assistance in the form of scholarships and teaching/research
assistantships; 2) Increase funding for research projects and student support
by improving the number and quality of proposals submitted to outside funding
sources.
