**Physics minors or those wishing to prepare for a career in geophysics should take PHYS 2425, PHYS 2426 in place of PHYS 1401 and PHYS 1402.
+A 6-semester-hour computer science option is available in lieu of modern language. Students planning graduate studies in geology are strongly encouraged to take a modern language.
++Restricted Electives must be chosen from science, mathematics, statistics, engineering, soil science, computer science, quantitative methods, and modern language. One hundred-level courses may not apply towards satisfying this requirement (unless permission is granted by the chair). Restricted electives may not be used to fulfill a minor or concentration (except biology or physics) or to satisfy the modern language requirement.
