Department of Geosciences recently received an endowment of $40,000 from the South Texas Minerals Section to support graduate research in our department. This endowment will be used to generate up to 4 scholarships each year, which will be awarded in fall or spring semesters. This award ($750.00 per scholarship) will be used as seed money to support the graduate student until he is self-supported or on funded research. A committee will be assembled from former members of the South Texas Minerals Section and the Department in June, 2000. This committee will review and select the best applicants for these awards.
