Parking Changes for the 2011-2012 Academic Year

  • Each parking lot will be designated for single use only (yellow permit only, red permit only, etc.). 

  • The parking lot between the Business Administration Building and the Vernie and Blanche Hubert Softball Field will be all commuter student parking. All parking around the Life Services and Wellness Building will be faculty/staff parking. Drivers will no longer be able to use the parking lot as a pass through along Avenue C. It will be blocked to through traffic between the commuter student and faculty/staff parking areas.

  • The parking lot between Poteet and Cousins Halls will be pay-as-you-use visitors’ spaces and will be named Javelina Visitors Parking.

  • The parking lot east of the Steinke Physical Education Center (SPEC) will be all commuter student parking and the parking lot west of the SPEC will be all faculty/staff parking.

  • The new parking lot between Cousins Hall and Richard Street will become all faculty/staff parking. It will be paved during the summer.

  • The rows of faculty/staff parking behind Lewis Hall will be eliminated. The entire parking lot will be residential student parking.

  • The rows of faculty/staff parking in the lot adjacent to Jones Auditorium and Manning Hall also will be eliminated. The entire lot will be commuter student parking.

  • The parking lot adjacent to the Bellamah Music Building will be all faculty/staff parking. The commuter student rows will be eliminated. There will be a drop-off area available for students.

  • The parking lot behind Seale Hall will be all commuter student parking.

  • Street-side parking along Seale Avenue will be overflow parking for all permits.

  • All street-side parallel parking will be for commuter students unless otherwise marked.

  • All street-side diagonal parking will be for faculty/staff unless otherwise marked. This includes parking along Santa Gertrudis that was previously commuter student parking.

  • Improved signage will be phased in over several years designating the usage on each lot.
