Texas A&M University-Kingsville gives part-time employment to a number of students in various offices and departments. Students are referred to job interviews if they meet the University's employment policy. Full-time students may find work to earn part of the cost of attending the University and gain valuable experience at the same time. Student employment on a part-time basis by the University is limited to nineteen (19) hours per week.

A new application must be submitted at the beginning of each semester to be considered for employment. Information on campus employment can be obtained from the Student Employment Office. A student cannot participate under the part-time employment program if he/she is on enforced withdrawal. A student on scholastic probation may participate in the part-time program at the discretion of their employer.

Students hired by a department must come in with a request for Form 500 and complete the required paperwork before beginning work.

International students must include additional documents such as Social Security Cards, passports, a valid id and verification of ability to work in the U.S.

Maximum Hours and Wages Rates

A student may not average more than 19 hours per week if participating under the Part-Time employment program. Fringe benefits such as paid sick leave, vacation pay or Social Security deductions are not part of the Part-Time employment program at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

Students working during vacation and non-regular enrollment periods may not exceed 40 hours per week. A regular enrollment period is to be interpreted as the period of time during the academic year in which classes are in session.
