Overtime
When workload requirements cannot be met during regular working hours, employees may be scheduled to work overtime hours. When possible, advance notification of these mandatory assignments will be provided. All overtime work must receive the manager's prior authorization.
A workweek is from Saturday through Friday. If the department schedule permits, and subject to Texas State Laws, classified employees will take compensatory time off in lieu of overtime pay. Compensatory time taken during the same work week (Saturday-Friday) that the overtime is earned will be based on straight time. One overtime hour equals one compensatory time hour. If the accrued overtime is not taken during the same workweek, it accrues at time and one half and may be carried forward from month to month. All accrued compensation time must be used within 12 months of the time worked.
