Employment Categories
Probationary Status period will be six months in length for all staff with the exception of certified police officers who will be on probation for one year. Other exceptions may be approved, based on health and safety issues with the approval of the President.
Regular Full Time employees are those who are not in a temporary or probationary status and who are regularly scheduled to work for Texas A&M University-Kingsville for at least 40 hours per week and at least 4 ½ months per fiscal year. Generally, they are eligible for Texas A&M University-Kingsville's benefit package, subject to the terms, conditions and limitations of each benefit program.
Regular Part-Time employees are those who work less than 40 hours per week and at least 4 ½ months per fiscal year. Generally, they are eligible for Texas A&M University-Kingsville's benefits in the same proportion as their work month is to full-time employment.
Exempt employees are generally not eligible for overtime pay.
Non-exempt employees are eligible for compensatory time off.
