Texas A&M-Kingsville Department of Music Christmas Concert

The Department of Music at Texas A&M University-Kingsville will usher in the holiday season during the program’s annual Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 1 in Jones Auditorium.

The evening of holiday music is the program’s gift to the community, said Dr. Paul Hageman, chair of the Department of Music Approximately 150 A&M-Kingsville music students, representing four different music ensembles, will participate in the performance.  Ensembles performing in the concert include the Concert Choir, Jazz Band I, Mariachi, and the Wind Symphony. Audience members will have their opportunity to join in the festivities and share the holiday spirit during an Audience Sing-Along at the end of the program. 

Musical selections will include some traditional Christmas carols as well as new and clever arrangements of Christmas favorites.  Musical selections will include:  Coventry Carol, A Christmas Celebration, Angels We Have Heard On High, The Twelve Days of Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman, Rest Ye Merry Samba, A Big Band Christmas and more. The concert promises to be fun and full of Christmas spirit. 

The concert is scheduled to last about 90 minutes and will end at about 8:30 p.m.

The concert also serves as a benefit for the Toys For Tots campaign.  Audience members are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for the benefit of children in the community through the Toys For Tots campaign.
