37th Annual Bilingual Education Conference

Texas A&M University-Kingsville - 09/15/11 - 09/16/11

South Texas educators are invited to participate in the 37th Annual Bilingual Education Conference September 15-16 at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The theme for this year’s conference is Cultural and Linguistic Enrichment through Dual Language Programs.

This year’s conference will offer valuable insight on dual language learning for administrators developing dual language programs; for teachers interested in cultural, cognitive and linguistic enhancement; for students monitoring and assessing biliteracy academic programs; and for parents seeking ways to support biliteracy education at home.

“Our goals for our conference are to provide school districts with current research and practices for effective implementation of dual language programs,” said Sandra Montgomery, one of the conference organizers and a student in the bilingual education doctoral program at A&M-Kingsville. “Presentations will address administrative support, parental involvement and classroom instruction for strengthening dual language programs.”

On-site registration for the event is $200 for presenters and attendees and $75 for students. For more information, contact the Department of Teacher and Bilingual Education at 361-593-2871.
