Undergraduate students in the Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering must produce a comprehensive design project during their senior year—a task which allows them to utilize all the skills, tools and knowledge they have received during their studies at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

This year, for the first time, students will have the opportunity to present their research to the community during the day-long 2011 Engineering Student Design and Research Conference 8 a.m.- 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, in the Memorial Student Union Building on the campus of A&M-Kingsville.

“The Design and Research Conference provides us with a chance to showcase our students and their wonderful work they do to alumni, the community and potential employers,” said Dr. Stephan Nix, dean of the Dotterweich College of Engineering.

All 120 senior engineering majors will participate in teams. Presentations will go on concurrently from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Senior design projects and graduate and undergraduate student research posters will be on display from 11 a.m. to noon. A luncheon will feature guest speaker and College of Engineering alumnus, Thomas V. Shockley, retired vice chairman of American Electric & Power. Student presentations will continue concurrently from 1:30 p.m.-3 p.m.

Awards for Best Senior Design Projects will be announced at the Senior Dinner and Order of the Engineer Ceremony, Thursday, April 28. Download the Senior Dinner Schedule here.
