- Rock mechanics: micromechanics of rock failure mechanism, laboratory measurement of mechanical properties of rock, in-situ stress measurement, and underground space construction

- Geomechanics: ground compaction and surface subsidence

- Hydraulic fracturing mapping techniques using surface/subsurface tiltmeters

- Solid production: multi-scale modeling of solid production in petroleum reservoirs and its control measures
