General Information - Summer Only

The Center for Continuing Education at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is proud to announce College for Kids in the month of July! Students from ages 9 – 15 yrs old can attend this 3 week session while spending time in a college setting that provides a unique learning environment outside of the traditional classroom. The student gets to experience college life by choosing the courses they would want to participate in. This allows them to spend time gaining exposure to the college lifestyle and making positive memories that will encourage the pursuit of their collegiate dreams.

Eligibility

Any student entering the 4th through the 9th grade is eligible to participate, just bring along a copy of this year's report card for proof.

Class schedules

Classes will begin Monday July 8th 2013 through Thursday July 25th 2013. 

Classes meet Monday-Thursday, 8:00am-Noon and 1:00pm-5:00pm.

*Note:

Students have the option of choosing classes from the academic and elective course listening or a combination of both depending on his/her preference. Students can also attend a full day of classes, a half day, take an individual one hour course ,or take an individual long course of one hour and a half.

Cost

Full-time  $375.00

Part-time $200.00

One Week Full Time  $175.00

One Week Part Time $125.00

Lunch

Lunch will not be provided however there will be options for students to purchase meals. The Center for Continued Education encourages that students bring their own lunches or money to buy meals.

Books and Supplies

Books and/or supplies may be required for a particular course. The cost of the book or supplies will be in addition to the tuition and fees charged. Book and supply list will be furnished at registration if required.

Discipline

Students will have qualified instructional supervision during class time. No direct supervision of students will take place while students change classes. Parents will take responsibility for seeing that their son/daughter complies with appropriate college student behavior guidelines. Inappropriate behavior or discipline problems will result in dismissal from the program and refund will not be given. Parents will also be financially responsible for any loss to Texas A&M University-Kingsville’s physical facilities or equipment that is the direct result of their child's inappropriate behavior.

Personal Belongings

Texas A&M University-Kingsville is not responsible for any loss, stolen or damaged personal belongings of participants while attending the College for Kids program. It is recommended that participants do not bring any electronic devises or other personal belongings while attending the program.

Transportation

Parents/guardians are expected to provide daily transportation for students to their classes. Students should arrive no earlier than 30 minutes before classes begin and be picked up no later than 30 minutes after classes end.

Insurance

Parents/guardians and students should be aware that they are responsible for their own private health and accident insurance.

Advertisement

Photographs of your child may be taken during program participation and may be used in future publications.
