Continuing Education Units (CEU's)

What is a CEU?

A CEU stands for Continuing Education Unit. It is a unit equivalent to ten contact hours of participation in a face-to-face or online program designed for professionals by an accredited institution.

The primary purpose of a CEU is to provide a permanent record of the instruction pertaining to educational or professional development of an individual who has completed one or more significant non-credit educational training.

Requirements

SACS program criteria require several items be kept on file for each program:

  • A Syllabus for the program containing information about needs identification, learning outcomes, and instruction.
  • Documentation of program content which may be a set of program handouts, notes, and/or other materials
  • Very brief vitas for each of the instructors stating their qualifications to teach.
  • Program evaluations which include participant evaluations.*

  • Non-Refundable Processing Fee - Payment

Requirements after the program/workshop:

  • Payment for all CEU credits
  • Participant(s) Information

*Submission of the evaluations will be required upon completion of the program/workshop.

Procedures

Step 1

  • Submit items that are required by SACS for the program/workshop and make Non-Refundable Processing Fee payment. CNED will then review the program for approval.
  • If approved, CNED will provide blank student records for participants to document their sessions. These must be signed off by the respective instructors.
  • If not approved, CNED will contact you with further details.

Step 2

  • The program is required to return completed student records to CNED including:
    • Name
    • Phone Number
    • Email Address
    • Mailing Address

Step 3

  • CNED will review student records, calculate the cost, and submit an invoice to the designated person(s).

Step 4

  • Payment must be made online through Marketplace in order to receive the CEU(s). *We only accept credit/debit cards and/or checks.

Step 5

  • Upon receiving payment, CNED will begin processing CEU(s).

CEU Certificate

Once all requirements have been met, CNED will mail the CEU official transcript to each qualified participant.

Payment

All payments must be done via Marketplace. *We only accept credit/debit card or check.

Estimated Processing Time

  • Approval - Once all materials have been received, approval processing time is up to 7 business days.
  • Processing - Depending on the number of participants, processing time to generate CEU's is estmated between 5 business days - 3 weeks.
  • Mailing - Once CEU's have been generated, mail outs are estimated between 2 - 3 weeks.
      • Mailing is done through USPS and no tracking is available.
        • Depending on the mailing address, certificate arrival time may vary.
      • Upon request, additional shipping charges are applied for specific shipping (FedEx/UPS).
