Oscar Vela, Assistant Professor of Military Science


Oscar Vela Jr. was born September 2, 1958 in Corpus Christi, TX.  He originally joined the Armed Forces back in 1983 and continues to serve today.  He has been deployed overseas to different locations to include Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait as well as Central America (Belize, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama), South America (Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago), and Caribbean (Dominican Republic).  He has supported U.S. government agencies and host nation military personnel in building and fostering goodwill and trust during overseas operation exercises.  He is currently teaching leadership courses to the incoming freshman class at Texas A&M University Kingsville where he is focusing on developing our future leaders in the United States Army. Education B.A. Finance, Texas A&M University Corpus Christi Engineer Officer Basic and Advance Course Combined Arms and Services Staff School Command and General Staff College.   Interests Military History Running Hunting
