Dr. Michael Knight Moves into the Research Spotlight

Dr. Michael Knight joined Texas A&M University-Kingsville in the fall of 2015. Knight has a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Organizational Behavior – Strategy & Leadership and Management Information Systems. Knight has certification from Harvard Business School and a Commercial Pilot’s License with Instrument Rating. Some of his many honors include being nominated for Outstanding Teacher of the Year at the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay, Outstanding Faculty of the Year at Appalachian State University, Graduate Teacher of the Year at Southern Illinois University and recipient of the Distinguished Student’s Choice award at the Texas A&M University-Kingsville College of Business Administration. This is the first time a professor has received this award in his or her first year in our college.

He is Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Social & Organizational Dynamics in Information Technology. His teaching areas include strategic management, organizational behavior, entrepreneurship, leadership and management information systems. His research areas are social learning in the workplace, technology acceptance and end-user computing, knowledge sharing and virtual learning. His current research areas include corporate social responsibility, national espoused culture, and knowledge sharing & management as extensions from his research in social learning within the progression of employment roles.

Dr. Knight is currently co-authoring research with colleagues from Sichuan University in Chengdu China, Jiaotong International University in Xian China, and Xidian University in Xian China. Knight also is the Chair of Social Issues in Information Technology at both the Hawaii International Conference on System Science (HICSS) and Americas Conference for Information Systems. In addition, he is the Editor in Chief of the International Journal of Social And Organizational Dynamics in Information Systems
