Student Professional Development Program Is Launched

The College of Business Administration held its first two workshops of the Student Professional Development Program this past month.  The focus of these non-credit workshops is to provide students with additional tools in hopes of securing an internship/career opportunity. The Professional Appearance workshop took place Tuesday, Sept. 13 at the Peacock Auditorium.  Guest speaker Grant Flourney, Corpus Christi Store Manager from Men’s Wearhouse, and Vickie Benys, Kingsville Store Manager from Bealls, visited with students to share their expertise in business attire.  They guided students on how to achieve a professional look at an affordable price.

The Career Planning Workshop was held Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Peacock Auditorium.  A guest panel featuring Mary Ann Oldham from Hahn & Oldham PC, Ryan Butcher from Fastenal and students Jorge Mata and Modesto Morales presented on experiences in the business world.  A question and answer session allowed students to collect valuable information in regard to their selected career path.

Two more workshops will be held this semester: the Job Campaign on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at the Peacock Auditorium, and Professional Etiquette at the Corpus Christi Town Club on Tuesday, Nov. 8. For more information on the workshops, contact Student Professional Development Program Coordinators, Thomas Bingham or Vanessa Meling at 361-593-3942 or visit www.tamuk.edu/cba/SPDP.
