As CEO of a very successful bank serving rural American in an eight county region of South Texas, Renato Ramirez has been serving the needs of small businesses and families of modest means by helping them achieve economic success through financial services provided by IBC-Zapata. Ramirez is the founder, Chairman of the Board, and CEO of the bank he started on February 4, 1984.  His leadership, as well as his philanthropic nature, has supported many civic projects.  His support of education through scholarship programs, research programs, athletics, and cultural programs has benefitted many students in the market served by IBC-Zapata.

His personal impact on regional development beyond his banking leadership includes a very generous philanthropic heart. On February 22, 2014, Mr. Ramirez was recognized by the Washington’s Birthday Celebration Association as Mr. South Texas 2014.  The Mr. South Texas title is named to a deserving individual who has made a significant and lasting contribution to the growth and development of Laredo and the South Texas region.

Bilingual and bicultural, Renato Ramirez is also one of those rare Texans who know how to “gig’em” and “hook’em” having earned his B.S. degree from Texas A&M University and his M.B.A. from the University of Texas. In addition, he completed all graduate studies toward his Ph.D. in finance and economics at the University of Tennessee.
