Presentation Series Begins to Help Local
Small Businesses and Create Jobs
Kingsville small business owners gathered at the Kingsville Community Federal Credit Union on Monday, June 17 to hear a presentation delivered by CBA Assistant Professor John Cicala. Engaged business owners listened earnestly as Cicala laid out a comprehensive plan to promote and run a business successfully in a community like Kingsville. The structured presentation covered, among many other things, why a marketing plan is important, how to develop one and how to deal with vendors. This was the first of several presentations that will be offered to area businesses in the upcoming future and was made possible by JOB, a government grant designed to help small businesses and create jobs in our region.

Fall Enrollment Numbers Are Encouraging
Hoggie Days Orientation numbers are climbing this summer, which gives a promising outlook for the upcoming fall semester in our college. Hoggie Days is A&M-Kingsville's student orientation program designed to help prepare incoming freshmen and new undergraduate students. CBA advisor Cindy Longoria cited some of the highest numbers in recent years for potential freshmen and transfer students interested in becoming a business major. Students stay in the dorms and attend presentations the following day regarding academic and campus life, along with individual advising and entertainment. Parents who attend Hoggie Days have shown a special interest in our Student Professional Development Program, which gives a decisive competitive edge to students looking to enter the working world. If you know a student who is interested in learning more about majoring in business at A&M-Kingsville, please have them contact CBA advisor Cindy Longoria at (361) 593-3902.
