In May
2005, three Vietnam Veterans with roots in South Texas — James Jay, Ronald
Florence, and Pete Wyro — began exploring the possibility of an event to
examine the U.S. involvement in Vietnam in a factual yet personalized
manner, for the benefit of educating the public and students in
particular. Meeting at a local sandwich shop, the group sought and added
another area Vietnam Veteran, Art Barrera and enlisted the support of two
history professors, Drs. Dean Ferguson and Michael Houf, along with the
director of the Conner Museum, Hal Ham. The result is the Vietnam
Experience symposia series featured here. |
