Dr. Nancy KingSanders, Associate Vice President for Student Success, Professor of Music
As a clarinetist, Dr. KingSanders has toured the United States extensively with the United States Armed Forces Bicentennial Band, performing concerts in every state capital, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and in such concert halls as Avery Fisher Hall, Boston Symphony Hall and the Kennedy Center. She was the winner of the Concerto Competition at The Catholic University of America, performing the Clarinet Concerto by Mozart with their orchestra.
Dr. KingSanders was a winner of the 1982 International Clarinet Competition in Denver, Colorado. She has also been a finalist with the Discovery Chamber Music Competition in Chicago where she was broadcast nationally on WFMT radio station from Chicago. In addition, her woodwind quintet was a finalist in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition in South Bend, Indiana. As a member of the Peoria Symphony, she toured Germany, performing at the Bodensee Festival.
She has had guest artist engagements with the Plainview Symphony Orchestra, the Denton High School Wind Ensemble, the Bradley University Wind Ensemble, the Colony High School Wind Symphony, the Corpus Christi Wind Symphony, the Town Band of McAllen and the Corpus Christi Symphony. She has also performed as a guest artist with the University of North Texas Wind Ensemble at TMEA.
As a pedagogue, she frequently has presented clarinet instructional seminars at Texas Music Educators Association Conventions, while writing pedagogical articles about the clarinet for The Instrumentalist Journal. Dr. KingSanders also serves as a consultant and adjudicator for schools throughout Texas.
The Corpus Christi Caller Times has described "Nancy KingSanders' playing with the Corpus Christi Symphony brilliant and exciting, as exhibited by her opening solo in GershwinÌs Rhapsody in Blue."
Dr. KingSanders currently serves as Vice President for Student Success at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
