Dr. Jennifer Sholtis, Professor of Music, Horn
Dr. Jennifer Ratchford Sholtis, Professor of Horn at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, joined the faculty in 1996. She earned a BM in Horn Performance and a BA in German from the University of Arkansas. As an Elizabeth Fulbright Scholar, Dr. Sholtis studied with Michael Höltzel at the Music Hochschule in Detmold Germany. She continued her studies with Kristin Thelander, earning a MFA and a DMA in Horn Performance/Pedagogy at the University of Iowa. Dr. Sholtis was adjunct professor of horn at Truman State University and Wartburg College prior to coming to Kingsville. Dr. Sholtis is active as a clinician, adjudicator and has presented at numerous state, regional and international conventions. She has been principal horn of the Victoria Symphony, Laredo Philharmonic, utility horn of the San Antonio Symphony and founding member of the chamber ensemble Cecilia Circle. Her former teachers include Dr. Kristin Pederson Thelander, Michael Höltzel, Frøydis Ree Wekre, and Dr. Timothy Thompson.
