Dr. Insook Nam, Assistant Professor of Music
Insook Nam teaches undergraduate courses in general music education and music history. She finished her doctoral degree in music education at Arizona State University (cognate in ethnomusicology) where she taught undergraduate courses and coordinated a community outreach music program. Dr. Nam holds the Master of Music in Music Education from Arizona State University and the Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from South Korea. Prior to her appointment at Texas A&M University at Kingsville, Dr. Nam was a faculty member at State University of New York at Potsdam from 2004 to 2011.
She previously taught general music in preschools and elementary schools in Arizona. She has presented research sessions and workshops at the national and regional conferences on topics of multicultural music education and children’s songs. She is most interested in multicultural music education and promotes the integration of non-Western materials into the general music classroom.
