Mission
Department Mission Statement
The primary mission of the Department of Language and Literature is high quality teaching. The department encourages research to complement its instructional programs, to foster the intellectual growth of the faculty and students, to provide a foundation for its graduate programs, and to meet the education- and research-related needs of the region. It makes a major effort to provide life-long learning opportunities in English, French, and Spanish to residents of all ages and to serve as the linguistic and literary center for the region. The department and upper-level classes are small enough so that the faculty can provide individual attention to majors and maximum interaction among faculty and students, both in and out of class. This page was last updated on: October 09, 2012
