CALL FOR PAPERS

1st Annual Texas A&M University -Kingsville History Conference

October 20, 2012

The 1st Annual Texas A&M-Kingsville History Conference, sponsored by the Gamma Omega Chapter of the Phi Alpha Theta and the Robert J. Kleberg History Club, will take place on Saturday, October 20, 2012. The conference will be held on the Texas A&M University-Kingsville campus, and will include panels of undergraduate and graduate students, who wish to present their research to both subject professionals and peers.

Undergraduate and graduate students interested in presenting should send their completed papers to phialphatheta@tamuk.edu by the end of the business day on Monday, September 10, 2012. Papers will be reviewed by a team of Texas A&M-Kingsville history professors prior to the conference date.

Graduate students will be commentators for undergraduate panels. Any graduate student interested in serving as a commentator should send his or her curriculum vitae to phialphatheta@tamuk.edu by September 10, 2012.

A panel of judges will select the most well-researched and presented graduate and undergraduate papers (one from each category) to receive recognition in the form of cash awards.

NOTES:

  • A student is not required to be a member of Phi Alpha Theta or a history major or a TAMUK student. We welcome all majors and will gladly accept any paper with a historical emphasis regardless of the course it was written for.
  • A minimal $15.00 registration fee will be collected on the day of the conference.
  • Conferences are a great asset to any resume.
