Application Procedure for MS Degree Program

Deadline for all application materials is January 15

(It is your responsibility to make sure your application packet is complete before the deadline.):

  • Fall Admission (courses start in August): 

    • Please send CSDO Application (#1), Applicant Questionnaire (#2), and Letter of Intent (#3) AFTER November 1. We will NOT read materials sent prior to that date.

    • You will be notified of admission status by April 15 or soon after.

  • We have recently transitioned to Fall Admission only, and no longer accept applications to begin in the Spring semester.

To be considered for admission to the Graduate Program, candidates must submit the following materials*:

1. Complete the application form "Admission to the Masters Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSDO)."

2. Complete the Applicant Questionnaire

  • Email to cynthia.strubhart@tamuk.edu with the subject heading "Graduate Applicant Questionnaire" OR mail to the Graduate Coordinator (address below).

3. Complete a one-page (single-spaced) personal letter of intent describing your professional goals an reasons for applying to Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The document must include your name. 

  • Email to cynthia.strubhart@tamuk.edu with the subject heading "Letter of Intent" OR mail to the Graduate Coordinator (address below).

4. Have official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate forwarded to GRADUATE STUDIES at TAMUK.  If a degree(s) has been completed, it must be posted on the official transcript. 

  • Graduate Studies address below.

5. Go to the University web site and complete the on-line common application form and pay the application fee (www.tamuk.edu/apply).  In order to assure proper processing of your online application, please also contact the Business Office (361-593-3818) to check and make sure that your online payment of the application fee was processed and accepted.  Applications are not considered complete unless the application fee is paid.

  • Common application form is automatically forwarded to TAMUK when application is complete.

6. Have an official record of GRE (286 MINIMUM COMBINED VERBAL AND QUANTITATIVE FROM PAST 5 YEARS) forwarded to TAMUK.

  • GRE scores are automatically forwarded to TAMUK from ETS when applicant submits request. Texas A&M University-Kingsville's official school code is 6822.

7. If appropriate, submit TOEFL or IELTS results to the College of Graduate Studies (for international students; address below).

*Questions concerning complete application packets, test scores, transcripts, and verification of materials received (e.g., scores, transcript) should be directed to the COLLEGE of GRADUATE STUDIES (361-593-2808).

*Questions concerning the CSDO Questionnaire, Application Form, or Letter of Intent (#1, #2 or #3) should be directed to the CSDO Office (361-593-3493).

*Letters of reference/recommendation are NOT required for any part of the application.

*Applications will not be considered until the institution has received all required materials.  It is the responsibility of the prospective student to ensure that his/her file is complete by the deadline.

*When evaluating applicants, we take into consideration the following - GRE Scores  (286 MINIMUM COMBINED VERBAL AND QUANTITATIVE FROM PAST 5 YEARS), Applicant Questionnaire, Letter of Intent, GPA (Overall GPA, last 60 hours GPA, and CSDO major GPA), and repeated courses (deductions will be made for courses repeated 2 or more times).
