Undergraduate Work: TH-“Carl Schorlemmer” Leuna-Merseburg, Chemistry.

Graduate Work: Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Diploma (M.S.) in Chemistry.

Doctoral Work: Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg, Dr. rer. nat. (Ph.D.) in Chemistry

Past Research: Catalytic asymmetric synthesis, heterocylclic chemistry, peroxides and oxidation chemistry, development of environmentally green methodologies for selective hydrocarbon functionalization.

Current Research: Current/ future research will focus on two major areas.

1) Discovery and development of biomimetic selective organocatalytic and/ or transition metal catalyzed C-C and C-heteroatom bond forming reactions. Particular emphasis will be placed on development of smart catalysts for functionalization of unactivated hydrocarbons. 2) Construction of compound libraries aimed at developing novel anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory drugs with desirable pharmacological profiles. This highly interdisciplinary effort which will be conducted in coordination with our collaboration partners.
