Description
Standard State: solid at 298 K
Color: Gray Steel
Hafnium was thought to present in some types of minerals before its discovery in 1923.
On the basis of the Bohr theory, the element Hafnium was expected to be associated with
zirconium. With the means of X-Ray Hafnium was finally identified with zirconium.
Their chemistry is almost identical, however the density of zirconium is about half of
Hafnium. Hafnium has had a successful mix with iron, titanium, niobium, and other
metals.
