General Information:
Given to an outstanding junior or senior, the award was established in memory of Dr. Donna R. Tobias, who was a professor and chair person in the Communications and Theatre Arts Department for many years before her death in 2002. The recipient must participate or have had participated on the Forensic Team. ON A SEPARATE SHEET OF PAPER LIST ACTIVITIES, HONORS, AWARDS, OFFICES, TOURNAMENTS, ETC. THAT JUSTIFY YOUR RECEIVING A SCHOLARSHIP.

E. B. Erard Journalism Scholarship

General Information:
Given to an outstanding journalism junior or senior, the award was established in memory of Mr. Erard, who was editor of the Kingsville Record and Bishop News for many years before his death in 1970. A committee of consisting of departmental faculty determine the recipient who receives $500.00 per semester.

General Information:
This scholarship is awarded to incoming freshman majoring in communications, journalism, speech, radio/television or theatre. This scholarship is $750.00 per semester for the first four years.

Named for the late editor of the Kingville Record and Bishop News, the award is designated for a student who has high potential for success in music or theatre. H.M. King High School graduates are given preference for this award.

John Talmer Peacock Scholarship in Mathematics and Science

General Information:
This endowed scholarship fund has been established in honor of John Talmer Peacock. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the academic year (Fall and Spring) to one individual or may be split to provide two $500 scholarships. These will be allocated at $500 or $250 per semester respectively with renewal in the second semester based on continued performance in accord with minimum selection standards. Applications should be submitted to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences prior to April 25th of each year for review by the College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship Committee. The student(s) to receive this scholarship will be announced in May.

Eligibility:
To be eligible to receive the scholarship a student must:
1. Be a new beginning or currently enrolled student.
2. Plan to major in Math, Biology, Chemistry, Geosciences, or Physics.
3. For new beginning incoming students, be in the upper 20% of your graduating class and have a minimum test score of 24 (ACT) or 1000 (SAT). For currently enrolled students, have a 3.5 (4.0 point scale) or higher grade point average at the time of application.
4. For renewal the student must have a 3.5 grade point average or higher (4.0 scale).
5. Have a commitment to the principles of higher education.
6. Have demonstrated leadership potential.
7. Two letters of recommendation.

General Information:
Given by Mr. T. A. Harrell, Jr. of Corpus Christi in memory of his daughter, this fund recognizes outstanding freshman and sophomore journalism students.

The Lorena And Wood Patrick Scholarship

General Information:
This endowed scholarship fund has been established in honor of Mrs. Lorena Patrick and in memory of the Reverend Wood Patrick by their son, Dr. Donald Patrick. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded for the academic year (Fall and Spring) to one individual or may be split to provide two $500 scholarships. These will be allocated at $500 or $250 per semester respectively with renewal in the second semester based on continued performance in accord with minimum selection standards. Applications should be submitted to the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences prior to April 25th of each year. The student(s) to receive this scholarship will be announced in May.

Eligibility:
To be eligible to receive the scholarship a student must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Have completed a minimum of sixty (60) semester hours (by the end of the current semester), at least thirty (30) of which must have been completed at the university.
2. Be a current major in the College of Arts and Sciences.
3. Have a 3.25 grade point average or higher (4.0 scale).
4. Have a commitment to the principles of a general education.
5. Have demonstrated leadership potential.

The Natural Toxins Research Center Roger Campos Book Scholarship
This is a $500.00 bookstore scholarship available to 5 students for one full school-year. This is open to any student registered as an undergraduate with an interest in a future in bio-medical research or practice. Current college students must have at least a 3.0 GPA, and incoming students from high school must have graduated in the top 50% of their graduating class. The scholarship is open to any student with a science major, with special emphasis placed on chemistry and biology students. Additional weight would be given in the selection process to students who have worked or volunteered at the NTRC.
Olan Kruse Scholarship

$1000-$3000 award to full-time, undergraduate student majoring in physics. Must have G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher and SAT/ACT score of 1200 or 24.

Olga R. Paul Endowed Scholarship Fund

General Information:
This endowed scholarship fund has been established by alumnus and businessman Carl F. Paul in honor of his late mother, Olga R. Paul. Olga Paul received two degrees for Texas A&I, a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education and later a master's degree.
At least four $7,000 scholarships will be awarded each year; scholarships are renewable for up to four years, contingent upon continued performance in accord with minimum selection standards. Applications should be submitted to the Dean of College of Arts and Sciences by February 15th of each year for review by the College of Arts and Sciences Scholarship Committee. Scholarship awards will be made by May 1 for new students.

Eligibility (Entering Freshman):
To be eligible to receive the scholarship a student must meet all of the following criteria:
1. Have a 3.5 grade point average or higher (4.0 scale);
2. Score 1250 or above on the SAT or 29 or above on the ACT;
3. Be eligible for resident student status prior to February 15th deadline;
4. Enter a degree program listed below;
5. Be a full-time student (i.e., enrolled in 12 hours or more per long semester);
6. Be accepted Texas A&M University-Kingsville (main campus) before February 15th;
7. Submit 2 letters of recommendation from non-relatives, such as teachers, mentors, or employers;
8. Submit statement of purpose (double-spaced, 12 font, 1" margins, 2 pages)

This scholarship is restricted to those who plan to graduate with a degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville (main campus) in one of the liberal arts programs: Communications, Theatre Arts, Music, Art, Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Social Work, English, Spanish, History, Political Science, Geography.

Dean Chosen for Frank H. Dotterweich College of Engineering

The topic of this year's symposium at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is Human Resource Management on Modern Ranches. It is scheduled Thursday and Friday, Oct. 29-30, in the Memorial Student Union Building located on campus at the intersection of University Boulevard and Santa Gertrudis Street.
